Materials & Sustainability
Rattan is a rapidly renewable material sourced from climbing palms that regrow quickly after harvesting. In many areas rattan grows densely and is considered invasive; harvesting stems supports local livelihoods and provides an abundant raw material without chemical additives. The stems are dried and woven by hand. The powder-coated metal frame provides structural support so the shade keeps its uniform shape over time.
Production & Ethics
This lampshade is handmade in Bali, Indonesia. We select local producers who follow fair pay and good working conditions. All manufacturing steps are completed by experienced artisans, with no harmful chemicals used in the process. Because production is manual, greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing are minimal. We verify standards through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with our partners.
Care & Variation
As each piece is handcrafted from natural materials, slight variations in size, color and shape may occur and should be considered part of the productās character. To clean, dust gently with a soft brush or cloth; avoid prolonged exposure to moisture. Handle the metal frame and mounting hardware carefully during installation.
